Sr. Mary Boyle celebrated the Golden Jubilee of her Religious Profession at Mount Oliver, Dundalk, Ireland on 31st August 2013.  It was a truly joyous celebration.   I asked Mary to say a few words about her Golden Jubilee for our website.  Well, I got precisely was I asked for....  She said ‘It was a great day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself'. That said it all.  Mary did, indeed, enjoy her big day with its beautiful Liturgy and lovely lunch and surrounded by her community, relatives and friends.

Fifty years of dedicated living is something to celebrate.  Mary left her native Scotland way back in 1960 to follow her calling to be a Missionary Sister.  In Africa, she took on a number of ministries over the years in both Uganda and Kenya, but she is particularly remembered for her loving and tireless care of the sick.  Mary spent many years caring for those with Hansen's Disease (Leprosy) in both Buluba and Nyenga in Uganda.  Before leaving Uganda she had the pleasure of seeing a missionary's dream fulfilled, for she was at Nyenga Hospital when it was handed over to the care of the Little Sisters of St. Francis, and thus the care of the local Church and people.

We wish Mary a continued happy retirement.
