Srs. Malachy Mathews and Anne Scott
Celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of their Religious Profession
at Mount Oliver Convent, Dundalk

We congratulate Srs. Malachy Mathews and Anne Scott on the occasion of their Diamond Jubilee - 60 years of life and service as Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa.

Extract from Sr. Malachy's letter to the Sisters recounting the day:

Greetings from Mount Oliver and from my very grateful heart – I was completely overwhelmed by you generosity on the occasion of my Diamond Jubilee.  I really felt the joy of being a member of our so–bonded Franciscan family, far and near...

Just to share a word about the day itself – the Chapel was so beautifully decorated with ornate candles and arrangements of roses, orchids and chrysanthemums and of course greenery.

For the Mass all the seats were filled with family members – Sr. Anne’s on the left side and mine on the right and the choir on the right near the door to the annexe – it was highly praised for its sweetness, vivacity and joy.  Sr. Bridgette’s words of introduction were greatly appreciated by everyone.  The Liturgy was beautiful; Father’s homily on Mission at home and abroad was just right, and the Papal Blessing was presented to us and photos taken.  We ended with our Easter Regina Coeli.

Then we proceeded to the beautifully decorated Dining Room.  Needless to say everyone enjoyed a lovely meal and the craic was mighty.

No need to say a great day was had by all.  Deo  Gratias, and thanks to all our Sisters and Staff.

With renewed gratitude and prayers.   United in Love and Joy...

Sr. Malachy
