A Golden Day for Sr. Louise Malone

On August 20th 2010, Sr. Louise Malone celebrated the Golden Jubilee of her Religious Profession as a Franciscan Missionary Sister for Africa in the Sacred Heart Church, Bellshill.

Louise's parish church was beautifully decorated for the occasion. The altar front consisted of our banner from the Congregational website, with a superimposed photograph showing a jubilant jubilarian!! Pictures of Mother Kevin and St. Francis also adorned the sanctuary.

A large gathering of family and parishioners joined in the festivities. Fr. John Sweeney MHM was principal celebrant at Mass with Canon Reen, Parish Priest and Fr Matthew Dupard, cousin of Sister Louise. Sisters came from Moredun in Scotland and from Ireland.  Also present was Hermine, a friend and former colleague, who worked with Louise in Kariobangi, Kenya. 

For the last 44 years Louise has served in Uganda, Kenya, Zambia and Zimbabwe, where her current ministry involves working with the elderly.  
 
It was a truly happy occasion amongst family, community and friends in Bellshill.
