(L-R) Srs. Betty, Lucia and Rita

Families, friends and Franciscan Sisters from Mount Oliver,  Sandymount and Raheny and Scotland gathered at Mount Oliver Convent on Saturday 25th September 2010 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Srs Lucia, and Betty Moran (blood sisters) and Sr. Rita O'Hare FMSA.

All three Sisters have spent many years in Africa and other communities in Ireland, England and Scotland. Their special day was spent in great rejoicing and festivity marked by a deep sense of gratitude for all the experiences and blessings of the last sixty years!

Rita has worked for many years as a doctor in Uganda and South Africa (formerly known as Transkei). Her many skills have touched the lives of many people in areas of medicine, surgery and HIV/AIDS work. At present Rita is an active member of the community in Raheny.

Lucia, served the people of Uganda at Nsambya Hospital for many years in the laboratory. She will be remembered by many for her dedication and gentle presence as well as her professional skills and expertise. She also took up a ministry in South Africa at Lusikisiki Hospital.

Betty is no stranger to Kenya, Zambia, Scotland and Ireland, where she forged strong friendships with the local people through her many roles in pastoral and social care. Wherever she has been, she has always been an active member of the local community. Lucia and Betty are both currently members of Mount Oliver community.

We congratulate and thank all three sisters for their many years of commitment to the Congregation and wish them many more years to come!
