Opening of new Nutritional Centre at St. Francis Day Centre, Chipata, Lusaka, Zambia

Our long awaited dream came true on the 23rd April 2O1O when the Irish Ambassador to Zambia, Mr. Tony Cotter,  and Mr. Seamus Gleeson, the Director of Touch Ireland officially opened our Nutritional Centre.   For over two years we aimed at building a Nutritional Centre for the orphans and vulnerable children who come to our Day Centre for a nutritious meal each day as well as for the children at our Day Centre.

Early last year Seamus Gleeson visited our Centre at Chipata.  Having listened graciously to our dreams and seen our needs for himself, he kindly agreed that Touch Ireland would fund the building of the Nutritional Centre.  It was wonderful to be able to welcome Seamus and members of his Touch Ireland Team for the Opening Ceremony.

It was an occasion of great rejoicing - the children entertained all present with song and dance.  All would agree that great credit is due to our staff members for the way the children welcomed and entertained us all.

On behalf of St. Francis Day Centre, I take this opportunity to say a big 'Thank You'  to Seamus and his Touch Ireland Team for making our Nutritional Centre possible.  I also take the opportunity to thank the Irish Ambassador, Mr. Tony Cotter for being with us to open the Centre.
