Education for Life - Kenya (EFL) was begun by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa in 1994, thanks mainly to hard work and determination of Jo Wardhaugh from Scotland and Ben, a young man from Kariobangi, Kenya.  It came into being to address the rising evidence of HIV/AIDS in Kenya and drew on our previous experience in Uganda which was already producing good works.

Over the years, EFL has grown to become a National Team of qualified Facilitators commited to helping people develop holistically and make value-based life decision.  It operates under the auspices of the Kenya Episcopal Conference.  However, EFL programmes are open peoples of all Faiths.  The EFL Team has been called on to assist peoples of other Nations develop effective programmes in their own countries.

The work of EFL Kenya is very ably co-ordinated by Mr. Fred Olwenya and his Team.  Sr. Felicia Matola FMSA directed EFL for many years until she was elected onto our Congregational Leadership Team in 2007.  Sr. Teresa Rafferty FMSA continues our involvement in this worthwhile project as current Director.
